Welcome to the Auslan Jungle

  • Australia

Welcome to the Auslan jungle is a show about Auslan, the sort of sign language you use in the jungle of today’s Australia, proper Aussie (bogan) Auslan.

This show is half comedy and half learning sign language. If you've always been meaning to learn another language but never got around to it and thought maybe Auslan looks like a fun language to learn because of all of the hands and stuff, then this is the show for you.

This show teaches you to sign the proper Aussie (bogan) way and ends with everyone in the audience signing together in an Auslan Aussie (bogan) choir.  Your hands will sing with an Aussie twang.

Ben is an Auslan interpreter from Tasmania. He has been doing comedy for over 20 years after being a RAW Comedy National Finalist in 2002. Ben travelled all over Australia last year doing his show Deaf Bridges, including at the Melbourne and Sydney comedy festivals. All of Ben's shows are Auslan interpreted as Ben presents his shows in English while signing some Auslan. The Auslan interpreter signs the rest. This show is accessible to both Deaf and non-Deaf alike.

Suitable for audiences 13+

Language – occasional coarse language
