I'll Allow It

  • Australia

Winner Pinder Prize 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Winner Directors' Choice Award 2022 Melbourne International Comedy Festival

This show is a love letter to unprofitable and unproductive pursuits. Where have all the hobbies gone? In a world of entrepreneurs and influencers every hobby is a side hustle, every moment a chance to monetise.

I can’t be sure if it's my age or the modern age, but I find myself doing things for the love of it less and less. The thing I miss the most is amateur sport. The drama and the glory of it. I once watched a woman named Fred sledge the A grade men’s softball team so hard they cried. Have you ever watched men in three-quarter pants cry? It might have been the best thing I’ve ever seen, and no one made a profit.

I want to write a show that celebrates passion without profit. All that said, I would like to make millions off comedy.

Bronwyn has supported the likes of Hannah Gadsby, Nish Kumar and Mel Buttle and has performed on the Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala.

Directed by Maggie Looke

'Sharply witty.' ★★★★ Chortle (UK)

Suitable for audiences 15+

Language – occasional coarse language

Melbourne International Comedy Festival acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' spirit, imagination and rich history of storytelling and humour that is an inspiration to all Australians.

We accept the invitation to walk together with First Nations people towards a more positive future for Australia, as described in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
